Non invasive laser-type treatments

Six frequently asked questions about laser treatments

How do you know a patient’s skin will not react badly to the laser treatment?

Before any type of therapy begins, Symmetria’s specialized doctor will perform a laser patch test. This means that he will apply the laser treatment to a very small area of your body in order to gauge the reaction of your skin. If there is no acute redness, irritation or some other reaction in the hours or days following the treatment, then your doctor will authorize your treatment to proceed.

Is the laser therapy painful?

The sensation has often been described as a slight pinching or a minor pricking feeling. This sensation during the therapy only lasts for fractions of a second. After the treatment you may have a slight itching or sensation of warmth in the treated area which quickly diminishes and goes away completely. The pricking sensation during the therapy is so minimal that most patients feel no great discomfort. There is always the option of course if you wish to apply an anesthetic topical cream on the area in order to avoid absolutely any discomfort.

What happens after every treatment?

After the treatments, your skin’s slight irritation will go away so quickly that most people return immediately afterwards to their workplace or to any of their other daily activities. For those undergoing a depilatory session, the area under treatment will be shedding hair in the subsequent 3-4 weeks. In order to proceed to the next treatment sessions, therefore, you will have to wait until any remaining hair grows back.

Who can do the depilatory laser treatment?

Anybody who wants to rid themselves of unwanted hair and say goodbye for forever to shaving, waxing should come and do Symmetria’s laser treatment. Also, it can be an option for those who do not want to do electrolysis. Of course commencing any depilatory laser treatment will first be reviewed and examined by your personal Symmetria doctor who will continue to supervise you under his expert care.

Who should not do a laser treatment?

Somebody who has a cardiological problem or some other acute medical problem will not be allowed to do the laser treatments. Also, if a candidate’s skin shows signs of psoriasis, abrasions, scars or inflammations. Finally, sessions are never undertaken if during that time a person will be spending long periods of time exposed to the sun, if they are pregnant or if they will be breast-feeding. For better guidance though, each person will discuss their own case with one of our responsible doctors.

What kind of results should I expect from the depilatory laser treatment?

After every session less and less hair will appear in the treated area. Also, any reappearing hair will be lighter in color, thinner and will be returning after a longer period each time. More than one session is needed to be able to treat each hair follicles in an area. Most people have successfully eliminated their unwanted hair in about 4 to 8 sessions, though it must be noted that each individual case differs. Lighter colored hair may need more sessions than darker colored hair.
