How does the depilation LASER treatment work?

The light energy is absorbed by the hair melanin causing the increase of temperature in follicle in order to destroy that structure while the epidermis layers remain unaffected.
The anagen phase ( the period of hair growth) is the only period for a hair fibre to be destroyed. Because of all hair fibres are not in the same phase, more treatments are required in the same area to ensure treatment of all follicles while in anagen phase. Additionally, the effectiveness of depilation depends on the colour and diameter of hair ( the dark and thick hair can be treated much easier). The best results are expected after 6-8 sessions performed every 4-5 weeks. The face and neck are the most difficult areas for depilation (because of hormonal affects) and always more treatments are required.

Contraindications to LASER treatment?

Although the therapy can be used for all ages, both sexes and every area body with unwanted hair, there are some cases where it must be avoided as : patients with skin cancer history, dysplastic nevus or patients who uses medicines that cause photosensitivity ( retinoids, sulfonamids etc). Additionally, the treatment must be avoided in summertime, especially on patients with dark type of skin.
