Laser treatments

Non invasive laser-type treatments

Symmetria offers a new laser-like technology for hair removal and skin rejuvenation. The new technology combines the benefits of radiofrequency current (RF), with the optical energy of pulsed light. The synergy that occurs between the RF and light offers a remarkable new way for treatment of cutaneous skin indications.

Traditional laser or light-source has long been used for thermolysis of targets in the skin. Hair removal, pigmented lesion removal, vascular lesion removal, non-ablative skin renewal or dermal remodelling are examples of indications that are successfully treated by a variety of wavelengths and filtered spectrum light. A common issue in treatments done by traditional laser or light-source is two-fold:

  1. Not enough light energy absorbed by targets means less efficacy
  2. Too much light energy absorbed by non-targets means collateral damage or unwanted side effects, usually to epidermis or dermis.

The new technology represents a solution for both problems. Since the light and the RF play equal but different roles in the formula, efficacy will not be compromised for safety, and safety is not compromised for efficacy.
For hair removal, patients with a variety of skin types, and different anatomical regions to treat can equally benefit. Light to moderately tanned skin can be treated, but recently tanned skin that is very dark is not advisable.

For skin rejuvenation, we can treat indications such as vascular lesions, spider veins; pigmented lesions, age spots, freckles; and textural irregularities such as rough skin, or fine lines. The focus of skin rejuvenation is full-face treatments, but this procedure can also be performed for photodamaged and aged neck, chest, arms, and hands.
